Cheltenham Festival Racing

The Cheltenham Festival is held over 4 days with over 25 races including the Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase, Stayers Hurdle and culminating in the world famous Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Large amounts of money are gambled during Cheltenham Festival week, with hundreds of millions of pounds being bet over the four days.

Although each day has a very similar format, over the 4 days each day has a different feel to it and so it is worth considering which is the best day for you.

  • Tuesday is the first day of the Cheltenham Festival, Champion Day, and features the most important hurdle race of the season, the Champion Hurdle.
  • Wednesday is Ladies Day so dress to impress! The best action is on the track though with the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
  • Thursday is better known as St Patricks Thursday and is the perfect place to kick off the celebrations. Racing includes the World Hurdle and Chase.
  • Friday is simply Cheltenham Gold Cup day - the big one! The climax of the entire Jump racing season and the days programme is arguably one of the best racing days of the year.
