Just imagine a beautiful 350 year old farmhouse set within ten acres of gardens, meadows and streams, in idyllic countryside, add a fabulous heated outdoor pool (for use of guests staying in the main house) an attached cottage and two self-contained studio cottages and you have Colan Barton, the most perfect Cornish cottage holiday retreat. Set in the tiny hamlet of Colan, just 3 miles inland from the stunning Cornish coastline near Newquay and Porth, this family property has been lovingly restored to provide a whole range of flexible self-catering holiday accommodation. The gorgeous main house oozes character and charm. It has been sympathetically restored and features original slate flagstone floors, natural wood doors and oak flooring. Access from Colan Barton into Little Barton is gained by unlocking doors from both properties on the upstairs landing and downstairs rear hallway. This combination then offers spacious accommodation for up to 15 guests. Gwel an Lagen and Bos Lowen the two contemporary and characterful studio cottages are adjacent to Colan Barton, in their own spacious paddock area. When the whole site is booked it offers immense flexibility for any extended group of family or friends to enjoy a holiday in Cornwall together. After meandering your way inland a short distance from some of Cornwall's finest beaches and eating places and you will discover picturesque countryside and tranquil villages. Nestling in a beautiful wooded valley surrounding the hamlet of Colan, you will find Gwel an Lagen adjacent to its sister property, Bos Lowen. Cottages in Newquay hardly appear in such idyllic surroundings. From humble beginnings as a farm building, these two studios have been transformed into cosy self-catering cottages perfect for a couple to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Colan Barton estate. The studio cottages are a mirror image of each other with Gwel an Lagen being the property on the right, to greet you on arrival. The cottage is situated 30 yards from the main house and although you are totally independent, it can be booked as part of Colan Barton if desired.
Gwel an Lagen has views through a small copse, from its open patio area to Colan Church. Dating from 1250 the church has always been part of Colan Bartons landscape. Entrance into Gwel an Lagen is via a stable door into the kitchen / dining room with slate flooring and bespoke kitchen. Three steps down lead to the spacious vaulted living - sleeping area. A large comfortable sofa and a log burner on a raised hearth add a welcome homely and romantic touch. Relax by watching TV with Freeview, play DVD's or listen to music on the I-Pod docking station with CD player and radio. The bathroom is equally spacious with contemporary quality fittings and beautifully tiled floors and walls. As well as enjoying the large paddock with pond, stroll through the local woods and visit the ruins in the Hoblyn estate or venture further afield to Porth reservoir.

Living room- sleeping area with quality bespoke full size double bed cleverly concealed in wall units, wood-burning stove, TV with Freeview and DVD. I-pod docking station with CD player and radio. Bathroom with fitted shower over bath, WC and basin

Facilities and Services: Linen and towels. Oil CH. Picnic table. BBQ. Initial log supply, thereafter £5.00 per bag. No cot is provided, please bring own travel cot. No smoking . 2 pets welcome. Ample private parking. Short breaks available. 3pm arrival time. Arr/Dep for weekly bookings is Friday.
